Aussie Julian Assage loses extradition appeal, set to face accusations in Sweden

Julian Assange has lost his British Supreme Court extradition appeal but lawyers for the WikiLeaks founder want the matter revisited.
While the 40-year-old Australian was stuck in London traffic en route to the hearing, a courtroom packed with global media heard from Lord Phillips on Wednesday as he recounted the findings of a seven-member judicial panel.
For more than 18 months, Queensland-born Assange has been fighting a Swedish Public Prosecutor request that he be extradited to Stockholm for questioning over allegations of sexual assault against two women in August 2010.

Lawyers for Assange argued that the prosecutor was not a judicial authority, the title necessary to order an extradition.

Five justices at the UK Supreme Court disagreed with Assange, while two decided in his favour.

"The majority has concluded that the Swedish Public Prosecutor was a judicial authority ... it follows that the request for Mr Assange's extradition has been lawfully made and his appeal against extradition is dismissed," Lord Phillips said.

Assange's barrister, Dinah Rose, QC, pounced on the judgment, suggesting that the majority of justices based their decision on an interpretation of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, a point of law which had not been argued during the appeal hearing.

Subsequently, Ms Rose was granted 14 days to submit an application to the court which could lead to the appeal being reopened.

"The minority of judges considered that the words 'judicial authority' mean what they say: a court and a law," Assange's solicitor Gareth Peirce told reporters outside court after the judgment.

"Lady Hale in her dissenting judgment considered that the basis on which the majority decided was putting the cart before the horse: that you cannot say that practice determines what the law means."

Ms Peirce said the matter must be given further consideration by the court.

"We will be informing the Supreme Court that the basis on which the majority decided the Vienna Convention point, the practice, trumping the law, was not argued before the court at all and we therefore didn't have an opportunity to argue it and that in itself would be a breach of ... a fair hearing," she said.

Assange has previously indicated that if his Supreme Court appeal was unsuccessful he would consider taking his case to the European Court of Human Rights.

Human rights lawyer Geoffrey Robertson, QC, said the British Supreme Court decision was "inevitable" but not unanimous.

"There are technical possibilities and of course the main issue is the European Court of Human Rights because that is the final court in Europe, and certainly he has a reasonable prospect there, but it is unlikely that they would halt the extradition," he told the ABC.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard said Australia would provide consular services to Assange.

Cannes 2012 Winners Announced : Have A Look..

Over the past couple of weeks, the Cannes red carpet has been packed with Hollywood star power. Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and many more struck poses on the French Riviera before debuting films at the famed festival.
But when it came down to taking home the fest's coveted prizes, did any of Hollywood's hottest make the cut?Not even.

Flicks like The Paperboy (starring Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman) and Pitt's gritty Killing Them Softly caused quite the stir at the fest. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel celebrate engagement with star studded bash

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake are one step closer to living happily ever after!
On Saturday, the pair, who got engaged in December, ware feted with an engagement party that took place at the California home of Timberlake's longtime friend and HomeMint collaborator Estee Stanley.

At the soiree, guests were dressed in cocktail attire with the men wearing suits and the women donningblack dresses. Timberlake, 31, wore a black suit and a fedora; Biel, 30, worked a leopard-print halter dress cinched at the waist with a hot pink belt and matching shoes. Gourmet appetizers were served by Wolfgang Puck Catering along with wine and champagne.

Celebrities on the guest list for the 100-attendee soiree, which included the couple's friends and family: Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Trace Ayala, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia DeRossi and Amy Adams.

"Jessica and Justin were mingling both separately and together throughout the party," an insider tellsUs Weekly. "Jessica seems to be very close with Justin's friends and vice versa. You can see that they have been dating for a long time and really know each others friends and family well. The party was a fun celebration and a preview of what's to come with the wedding."

Earlier this month, Biel and Timberlake tried on wedding bands at jewelry boutique Eli Halili in New YorkCity's Soho neighborhood ahead of making their red carpet debut as an engaged couple at the 2012 Met Ball.

Set to wed this year, the couple of five years spent over a half an hour in the shop with jewelry designer Halili, trying on wedding bands and perusing other pieces in the shop, including one-of-a-kind ancientrings and precious stone necklaces.

Although they didn't select their wedding bands during the jaunt, the twosome did drop $6,500 -- buying a $2,200 ring (a 24 carat gold ring with a labradorite semi-precious stone) and two necklaces ($2,500 and $1,800, respectively).

KKR Beat CSK by 5 Wickets (See Photos)

Purple is the colour of the Indian Premier League and the Knights are the new Kings. There are a whole host of new heroes who made this possible: The unheralded Manvinder Singh Bisla, the legendary Jacques Kallis, Shakib Al Hasan, and Kolkata's own Manoj Tiwary.

Each of them played like they owned the stage as Shah Rukh Khan's Knights notched up an unbelievable win with three balls to spare.

Bisla didn't know till Saturday evening whether he would be playing the final. KKR took a big gamble by playing him ahead of Brendon McCullum and the Haryana batsman was an absolute revelation.

A chase of 191 is thought to be out of bounds when you are playing at the Chepauk against CSK, and when skipper Gautam Gambhir got out in the first over, it seemed Chennai were well on their way to making it a hat-trick of titles.

But Bisla came out of nowhere and started hitting every single bowler on view. Dhoni just hadn't prepared the blueprint for the guy.

With the pitch staying good for batting, Bisla simply put his foot out of the way and continued to hit through the line. The CSK bowlers were left clueless. Then there was Kallis at the other end top contend with. The South African looked rock solid and it seemed that he knew he was eager to win the game on his own.

But when he got out with KKR still needing 16 off 11 balls, CSK were in with a chance. Dhoni started playing his standard tricks, taking time between deliveries and making the pressure unbearable for every single soul on the ground!

But it was destined to be KKR's night. Shakib survived a close call when Billy Bowden called a no-ball for a waist-high full toss off Ben HIlfenhaus. Shakib hit a boundary off the next ball and it was down to nine off the last over.

Bravo was a picture of confidence coming into bowl, but so was Tiwary. Two brilliant boundaries and the Knights was on top the world with two balls to spare.

Earlier, when Super Kings batted, it was again the brilliant batting unit that came to the fore. While M Vijay and Mike Hussey gave them the dream start, Raina played his best innings of the IPL and took his team to a position of strength.

Vijay (42 off 32 balls), who has been in divine touch since the Delhi game a couple of days back, started from where he had left off. The supreme timing of the right-hander was on display as an off-colour Lee failed to find the correct length. Hussey, too, kept rotating the strike, making it difficult for the bowlers to settle down and the opening pair put on 87 runs in 10.2 overs. Vijay looked well set for much more, but an outstanding diving catch by Shakib Al Hasan at deep square leg brought about his downfall.

KKR were looking to come back into the match with Gambhir handing his resources well. But Raina (71 off 36 balls), who has struggled through the tournament, suddenly decided to make the final stage his own. His case was made just a little easier when Gambhir brought Yusuf Pathan in for the 14th over. Raina was waiting for this opportunity to explode and took 17 runs off that one over with his characteristic slog sweeps that helped Chennai retain the momentum.

Gambhir was banking on the last three overs that mystery spinner Sunil Narine had up his sleeve. But when he came on to bowl for his second spell, CSK had lost only two wickets with Raina and Dhoni well entrenched. With no fear of losing wickets, Raina went after Narine, and the West Indies player, for the first time in the tournament, started feeling the heat.

Aishwarya Rai sizzles at Cannes, looks slimmer

Recently Bollywood Diva and Former Miss world Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was under severe criticism for her post baby Figure . But she maintained a dignified silence on the matter rather than reverting back. Her 2012 Cannesappearance was highly guarded till she made her grand entry at the AmfAR Cinema against Aids gala. Dressed in Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla ensemble, Aishwarya rocked as usual. She looked slimmer and gorgeous.
Her hair was piled to the top with a golden band around and her make-up was kept minimal. The actress who turned mother in November last year spoke about her baby Aaradhya. Asked about her baby, the actress said, "The baby`s here in Cannes, but not with me tonight, she`s doing well. I can`tcomplain about being busy with the baby because hectic is always being redefined in my life. It was easy to come tonight because I`m not making any films."
Aishwarya chose to go traditional at Cannes unlike previous years. With slimmer look, she has put all the rumor into rest and looks gorgeous as ever. This is Aishwarya’s 11th consecutive Cannes visit and Ash leaves no stone unturned to live up to the expectation of her fans.
Her Cannes appearance turns skeptical and it was a big slap for those who targeted the actress for her extra flab.
Aishwarya will walk the red carpet at Cannes again in Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla designed outfit. The designer duo shares a great rapport with the Bachchans and they have given Aishwarya a graceful look blemishing all the criticisms.

IPL 5 Final :CSK vs KKR Live Streaming Online

After a tight race to the finals, Chennai find themselves in a familiar position. A final in their home ground. Out of the five seasons played, the Super Kings have not been there only once and even that came more than three years ago. With a majority of their players having been retained through the auctions, Chennai have a distinct advantage of experience. Not that Kolkata would worry about it too much. Under Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata has been a transformed team. This season and the one before has seen their best run in IPL history. Being a first time finalist gives them that extra motivation to do well.

How they've fared:

In the five previous games of both teams, Chennai have lost only once while Kolkata have lost two. This could be a tad misleading though for Kolkata are on a roll and come into the final on the back of three consecutive wins.

Chennai:

The home advantage is one thing that will boost the defending champions hugely. Murali Vijay's return to form has been the icing on the cake. This could also help in shaking off the scratchiness at the top of the order. Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel and MS Dhoni have made telling contributions in the middle and lower order. Chennai will be banking on Suresh Raina to hit some form too for the southpaw has the ability to win a match single handedly. The bowling too banks heavily on Ashwin. The offie has shown that he has the right temperament for big games and would be the bowler the Knight riders target to put Chennai under some pressure. The team's temperament overall has been a benchmark for others to emulate and under an icy cool skipper, they have every chance of making it a hat-trick of titles.

Battle of the skippers:

The alleged feud between the Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni adds an extra edge to the contest. Both men have proved to be capable leaders so far and the final sets up an apt platform for the battle to culminate.

Kolkata:

Gambhir has managed to get the best out of his men and has led them by example. In comparison, Kolkata have managed to reach the final with ease. Determination and focus have been the key to their success so far and they will have to show that they have no fear of the big stage as they chase a maiden title. Sunil Narine has borne the responsibility of being the strike bowler but has also managed to do so at a good economy rate, making him one of the most valuable bowlers of the season. The rest of the attack has been woven around him and Kolkata will rely on him heavily to make good use of the spin friendly conditions at the M A Chidambaram stadium. Gambhir has a similar role to play with the bat and much like Chennai and Vijay, Kolkata will be upbeat by the return to form of the talismanic Yusuf Pathan. It will be the battle of the nerves that Kolkata have to tackle well if they are to pip one over Chennai in the latter's own backyard.

Statistics:

Chennai hold the aces in the overall head to head record having won 6 of the 10 games played and one being a no result. In their last five meetings too, Chennai have won thrice. However Kolkata will gain much confidence from another stat. They beat Chennai only recently in the tournament at Chennai by a comfortable margin. If anything that shows Kolkata have what it takes to grab the crown from the defending champion.

Big Brother 2012 ‘sumptuous’ house pictures unveiled

Despite the cameras not rolling yet, the new look Big Brother house has already begun to court controversy.
As the 13th series is set to get underway next month, the luxury house has been designed in the style of a sin filled Las Vegas hotel.
The main feature is a raunchy bedroom that features two double beds that are surrounded by mirrors have been cordoned off.

The Bed room with two double Bed

The bathroom has been installed with a large shower that can fit at least two people in it at the same time

The two beds sit in the centre of the room and are a clear indication that the show's producers want housemates to use them accordingly.

To add fuel to the fire, one of this year's contestants has a compelling sex secret which is sure to shock viewers.
An insider told the Daily Star: 'It’s got to be Channel 5’s most daring and shocking stunt.

'It’s never been done before. The moral crusaders will be screaming to have the plug pulled on the show.'

The popular show has caused offence before and has received complaints for various reasons, but the new series is set to raise the bar.

As a result TV watchdogs Ofcom are reported to be on standby to ensure that the reality show stays within the guidelines.

Celebrity Big Brother 2012: Rumored housemates for Celebrity big brother

There are still a few months until Celebrity Big Brother 2012 is back on our screens, but there have still been plenty of rumors over who might appear in the show. According to media reports and Rumors here we tried to list the latest celebrity who is set to enter the house in August, following the stint of ‘normal’ Big Brother from June.
Cheryl Fergison
Soap actress Cheryl, famous for playing the late Heather Trott in BBC One soap Eastenders, is said to have agreed to a £175,000 deal. With Cheryl having admitted that she’d love to enter the house, and with a free schedule after leaving Eastenders, we’d be very surprised if we don’t see her inside this summer!

Cheryl Fergison

Lauren GoodgerWe know that Big Brother bosses love TOWIE stars, with Amy Childs and Kirk Nocross having appeared in the past two series on Channel 5, and Lauren Goodger could be the next. Currently it’s touch and go whether Lauren will remain on The Only Way Is Essex, having reportedly rowed with producers over being the star of the show. If she leaves than we wouldn’t be shocked to see her turn up in the BB house come September.
Lauren Goodger

Janice Dickinson
After a stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle, Janice Dickson is now being lined up for a few weeks inside the Celebrity Big Brother house. She’s been offered £50,000, and we’d love it to be happen, although would hate to be the ones sharing the house with her!
Janice Dickinson

Rhian Sugden
Who? Rhian hit the headlines (sort of) last year after she was chatted up by presenter Vernon Kay by text. Not exactly the biggest claim to fame, but sometimes it’s the lesser known stars that prove to be the best in BB.
Rihan Sugden

Lee Ryan
Former Blue singer Lee Ryan has tipped to enter the series back in January, but negotiations were said to have broken down over his fee. The boy band star has once again been linked to the show, and we’d be surprised if he’s noton the line up.
Lee Ryan

Julie Goodyear
Another soap star amongst the rumors is Corrie star Julie Goodyear, who has reportedly agreed a £300,000 offer to enter the house come August.
Julie Goodyear

Julian Clarey
Comic Julian Clarey is quite a big name on this list, and seems somewhat out of place. Nonetheless, it’s claimed that the camp funny man has agreed a £325,000 deal to join the line up on Channel 5 later this year, we’re certainly hoping this one is true!
Julian Clarey

Nadine Coyle
Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle was rumoured to have accepted a £500,000 offer to join the show, but it’s looking very unlikely. Not only do we doubt Nadine is in so much debt she’d have to appear on Celebrity Big Brother, but with rumours of a Girls Aloud reunion in September it’ll be hard for her to squeeze a stint inside the house into her schedule, this year at least.

We’ll soon which – if any – of these rumours come true!Stay with us to get recent news and update on Big Brother 2012 and Celebrity big Brother.
