Pop star Britney Spears and her fianc?, Jason Trawick, are enjoying their holidays at the Mondrian SoHo in New York. The newly engaged couple enjoyed a night out on the town for a girlfriend's birthday at the hot and happening restaurant, The Darby, on Wednesday.

Tucked into a private booth, Britney, sticking to water, enjoyed many of the West Village eatery's specialties, prepared by Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, the People magazine reported. To make the special guest feel at home, Lady Rizo and The Darby band serenaded her with a cover song tribute of Britney's hit song, 'Toxic'.

New Island Rising In Red Sea..

A new island is forming in the Red Sea in the Zubair archipelago resulting from a volcanic activity as lava is cooled by the surrounding seawater and solidifies. The underwater volcano responsible is located on the Red Sea Rift, where the African and Arabian tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart.

Fishermen witnessed lava fountains reaching up to 90 feet (30 meters) tall on Dec. 19, which is probably the day the eruption began,Ash plumes were detected by NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging

By 23 December, the lava mass had broken the water's surface and the new island had begun to take shape. The island is currently around 500m wide and is still growing. The question now is whether or not it has staying power. It may continue to grow significantly as volcanic activity continues, or the fragile lava mass may be broken up by the action of the sea's waves. Whatever the outcome, volcanic activity in the Red Sea region appears to be on the rise. This is the first time the volcano has erupted in over a century and follows recent eruptions in the Afar Triangle in Eritrea and Ethiopia and the volcanic fields of southern Yemen and Saudi Arabia. In 2007, the nearby Jabal al-Tair volcanic island also erupted for the first time in over a century, killing 8 people.

Mystery of Metal that crashed on Namibia Solved.

The mysterious metal sphere fell to the ground in a remote area of northern Namibia has now been identified as a hydrazine tank from an unmanned rocket, commonly used in satellite launches. When the 13lbs, 14 inch ball smashed to earth in mid- November it sparked a national security issue with the Namibian authorities asking NASA for help in identifying it.

It was most likely a fuel tank for storing hydrazine on unmanned rockets.When the ball fell it caused a crater 12 inches deep and 13ft wide, although it was found some 60ft away.For more details of it Read here

The Mystery Ball from Space Crashed on Earth on remote area of Namibia

According to daily mail.co.uk a mysterious ball that looks like a prop from a science fiction film - and nobody can explain where it came from.
Police have been left baffled after a strange metal sphere fell to the ground in a remote area of northern Namibia, Africa.
It weighs around 13lbs, has a diameter of 14 inches and its rough surface looks like ‘two halves welded together’, said police forensics director Paul Ludik.

When the ball came down it caused a crater 12 inches deep and 13ft wide, although it was found some 60ft away.
Locals claimed to have heard several explosions in the days before it was discovered by a farmer on his land.

The find sparked speculation on the internet that it could finally be proof of extra terrestrial life, even though it bore a passing resemblance to the head of a character from the children’s series Teletubbies.
Some claimed that it could be an escaped particle from the Large Hadron Collider, reindeer droppings or a Quaffle from the Harry Potter films.

Others - arguably with more accuracy - guessed it was a hydrazine tank, which are used on space satellites to store the flammable chemical.
Mr Ludik however was quick to point out that more tests need to be done and that NASA and the European Space Agency had been notified.


He said that the ball was discovered a month ago but it has only now been made public. Whilst it was made of a ‘sophisticated material’, it was something that was known to mankind.
He explained that the explosion heard by locals could have been the sonic boom when it broke the sound barrier coming down to Earth, or by the impact on the ground.
The compound appeared to be a ‘metallic compound normally used in space vehicles,’ although he would not be surprised if it was actually from a normal aircraft.
Police deputy inspector general Vilho Hifindaka added that the sphere, which landed 480 miles from the
Namibian capital Windhoek, did not pose any danger.
He said: ‘It is not an explosive device, but rather hollow, but we had to investigate all this first’.
Earlier this year Britain and the rest of the world was put on alert when one of NASA’s satellites broke up and crashed to Earth.

Huge chunks of titanium up to 350lbs from car-sized Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite tore through the atmosphere at 1,800mph but the best NASA could guess was that they landed somewhere south of Inverness on the equator.
To try and reassure the public it also revealed that the odds of being hit were one in 3,200 - more likely than getting a hole-in-one in golf.
Weeks later Germany’s Roentgen satellite crashed to Earth and split up into 30 huge chunks including one which weighed 880lbs.

Aston Villa's Albrighton scores 20,000th EPL goal

Aston Villa’s Marc Albrighton put his name in the English Premier League record book last night as Manchester City and Manchester United tightened their grip on the top of the standings.

Twin of Earth orbiting a Sun-like star:A great discovery of NASA

A rocky planet the same size as the Earth has been discovered orbiting a star like our sun.
It is the first time a planet of this size has been detected in another solar system. Scientists have hailed the technical achievement of detecting Earth sized ‘exoplanets’ - the technical term for planets outside the solar system - as it increases the chances of finding life-bearing worlds.

Although the planet, Kepler-20f could have a thick water-vapour atmosphere, its surface is believed to be too hot for life.A second planet in the same system, Kepler-20e, is only slightly smaller than Earth and even hotter.Both worlds circle their parent star closely with 'years' that last just nine and sixteen days respectively.
Dr Francois Fressin, one of the astronomers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics in Cambridge, US, said: ‘It is the first time humanity has been able to discover an object similar to the Earth around a star, so maybe we will be able to find others.
‘This could be an important milestone. I think 10 years or maybe even 100 years from now people will look back and ask when was the first Earth-sized planet found. It is very exciting.’

The parent star, Kepler-20, is not exactly a close neighbour, being 945 light years away.
Neither lie within the ‘habitable zone’ where temperatures are just warm enough to allow liquid surface water, increasing the prospects for life.Earlier this month the telescope discovered Kepler-22b, a planet 2.4 times the size of the Earth situated in the middle of its habitable zone. But scientists say that Kepler 22-b may not be suitable for life.
‘You could fit 13 Earths inside Kepler-22b,’ said Dr Fressin. ‘The most likely thing is that it's simply a mini-Neptune, not suitable for life. Just because a planet lies within the habitable zone that doesn't mean it is habitable.’
Like Kepler-22b, the two new planets were found by the American space agency Nasa's Kepler space telescope - which scans distant stars for the signs of 'transits', planets passing in front of them.


The findings are reported today in an early online edition of the journal Nature.
Both planets are part of a solar system family already known to contain three larger worlds.

Kepler-20e and Kepler-20f compared with Venus and the Earth.

Kepler-20f has a radius just 1.03 times larger than Earth's, while Kepler-20e is 0.87 the size of the Earth.The astronomers spent years making sure the signals they detected really were from planets.We simulated all possible alternative configurations and tried to quantify the probability that a false signal could occur,’ said Dr Fressin. ‘We confirmed that the signals were coming from an Earth-size planet. It couldn't be due to anything else.’
Both planets are believed to be rocky, with a composition of iron and silicate, and very hot.
Kepler-20f is a baking 426C and Kepler-20e a scorching 726c.
The solar system is not hugely like our own, though. In our solar system small, rocky worlds orbit close to the Sun and large, gas giant worlds orbit farther out. In contrast, the planets of Kepler-20 are organized in alternating size: big, little, big, little, big.
'We were surprised to find this system of flip-flopping planets,' said co-author David Charbonneau of the CfA.
The planets of Kepler-20 could not have formed in their current locations. Instead, they must have formed farther from their star and then migrated inward, probably through interactions with the disk of material from which all the planets orbiting the star formed from. Kepler identifies 'objects of interest' by looking for stars that dim slightly, which can occur when a planet crosses the star's face. To confirm a transiting planet, astronomers look for the star to wobble as it is gravitationally tugged by its orbiting companion.
Kepler has found 28 confirmed planets so far.

A Dutch football match ended in farce after one of the teams walked off the pitch in protest at having their goalkeeper sent off - for fighting with a fan. An Ajax supporter ran on to the field and tried to attack the goalkeeper of visiting AZ Alkmaar in a Dutch cup match on Wednesday, leading to the game being suspended after just 36 minutes.The fan, identified by Ajax as a 19-year-old who had been drinking, approached Alkmaar's Esteban Alvarado from behind, but the Costa Rican keeper saw the supporter in time and skilfully tripped him. Alvarado then kicked him twice before stewards dragged the intruder off the pitch.
Rferee Bas Nijhuis astonished the away side, however, by red-carding the goalkeeper. Alkmaar coach Gertjan Verbeek then ordered his side to walk off in protest.

Dutch Football Association director Bert van Oostveen said his organisation was considering the incident, but is not certain whether or not the game will be replayed.

8th World Elephant Race to Start in Nepal

Finally, three day festival of Elephant race competition is going to start in the tourist village of sauraha. It is going to be held on December 26, 27 and 28 of year 2011.
Events like Elephant Beauty Contest, Elephant Race, Ox-cart race, Elephant football- (can you imagine !), Canoe race and of course singing and dancing programs. My personal favorite is elephant football since its fun to watch humungous animal play football. Also, it is quite unique to have elephants play football. Imagine the number of footballs that go brust!!! Surprisingly, it is also interesting to listen the commentating in the radio.

As the great Asian Elephant, the most intelligent, friendly, beneficial and biggest mammal on earth is practically at the verge of extinction, we the people of Saurha at the main gateway of Chitwan National Park, want to draw the kind attention of the conscious animal lovers and ecologically conscious intellectuals of the world, about this unhappy situation.
The distance of the elephant race will be 300 meters.
The track of the elephant race should be straight.
The width of the track will be 10 meters.
The participant cannot select the elephant themselves. The elephants of the respective participants will be selected by lottery method.
Not more than six elephants can participate in the race at a time.
In the same- finale and finale rounds the participants has to take part with their respective elephants . The elephants cannot be exchanged.
In case of injury, sickness or any other cases related to elephant behavior of the participating elephant, the elephant could be changed in accordance to the decision made by the selection committee.
The elephant that has acquired first and second position in the first round will be eligible to participate in the semi-final and the elephants acquired first and second position in the semi-final can participate in the final round.
After numbering the elephants through lottery method, the elephants will be grouped in a size of five from 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 and so on.
The track of the participating elephant will be determined before the race begins though lottery method.
Sticks cannot be used to beat and prick the elephant during the competition.
"Ankush" cannot be used in normal conditions to control the elephant other than in emergency conditions. Whereby, if the "Ankush" will be used, the elephant will be disqualified form the race.
From the beginning till the end of the race, the elephant should not go beyond the track line, if so the elephant will be disqualified from the race.
The participant and the elephant driver are not allowed to use alcohol or any kind of stimulating agents, if found so, both of them will be disqualified along with the elephant.
The same elephant and the participant taking part in the preliminary round should be in the semi-final and final rounds.

Kerry Taylor Auctions says the polka-dot chiffon dress, designed in 2006, was purchased by Musea de la Moda — a fashion museum in Santiago, Chile — for 43,200 pounds.
It said the dress's designer, Disaya, agreed to donate proceeds from the sale to a foundation set up in Winehouse's name.

Winehouse's father, Mitch, attended the auction and called the donation a "wonderful start to the foundation," which was set up to help vulnerable youth following Winehouse's death in July.

30th international won by EFG of Switzerland.

EFG of Switzerland successfully defended their title as they defeated nine time champion Tiger Tops Nepal 9-7 in the final game of the 30th International Elephant Polo Competition at Meghauli of Chitwan district on Friday.Though the organiser Tiger Tops Tusker played satisfactorily, the EFG took the game under its control in the latter half of the highly competitive game.

With the win, EFG became champion for the second time in a row.

In the deciding game for the third place, Tiger Tops Tigris of Denmark won the game against Chitwan National Park 9-6.

The competition which began a week ago was participated by eight different teams. Chitwan National Park and Tiger Tops Nepal were two home teams and the foreign teams included Genghis Khan of Mongolia, Refty Khukuri of England, Pukkachukka of London, WEPA Legend of Hong Kong, Tiger Tops Tigris of Denmark and EFG of Switzerland.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry are joining forces in their official new roles as ambassadors to the British Olympic and Paralympic teams.Sadly, Pippa Middleton is not royalty and thus, will not be participating along with the aforementioned, adorable trio. She remains royally cute, however.

The Royals are part of a group of 27 other ambassadors named from among Britain's most inspirational and accomplished Olympians from previous games.
Prince William told press, "Catherine, Harry and I are honored to be Ambassadors for Team GB and Paralympics GB. London hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will inspire so many people -- particularly the young -- to be the best they can be."
